Many boxing fans have been waiting for a fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua since 2017, as Fury called out AJ for a heavyweight bout.

You May Need to Wait Until 2026
Boxing fans will likely need to wait a little longer to see Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua step inside the ring together for the first time.
Anthony Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, recently claimed the bout between the two fighters is likely to be held in 2026.
He said, “Probably 2026 will be Anthony Joshua’s last year in the sport. Once AJ fights Tyson, he’s kind of done it all. Something feels right about beating Tyson Fury twice and then sailing off into the sunset.”
The chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, Turki Alalshikh, recently backed up Hearn’s comments, as he recently wrote on X, “The Gypsy King will be back. I talked with him, and I have his word to have him in Riyadh Season in 2026. We have a rabbit hunt!”
If his comments are to be believed, it is likely Tyson Fury will fight Anthony Joshua during Riyadh Season, which starts from October 2025 to March 2026. You’ll need to wait patiently for an official announcement.
AJ is Tipped for a Late 2025 Return
Despite reports that Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua is likely to happen in early 2026, Eddie Hearn recently stated AJ plans to return to boxing in November or December 2025.
According to Hearn, Joshua plans to battle it out in the ring against a top 15 opponent, which could be against Fury or another fighter.
The most likely scenario is that AJ will warm up with a fight against a solid competitor later this year, ensuring he is ready to face Fury in the ring in 2026.
Also, Hearn added that he believes Anthony Joshua will fight Tyson Fury not once but twice in 2026, meaning the fighters will likely have a rematch clause in their contracts.
Fury Wants a Usyk Trilogy
Boxing fans might be patiently waiting for a fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, but it appears The Gypsy King may have his sights set on Oleksandr Usyk for his next fight.
Tyson recently confirmed he is coming out of retirement for a second rematch against Usyk, as he lost to him twice in 2024 and is likely eager to restore his reputation as one of the greatest of all time.
According to Fury, he will fight Usyk at Wembley Stadium on April 18, 2026, but many believe he has made the statement to encourage Anthony Joshua to agree to the fight early next year.
