2026 Golden Raspberry Awards: Will Piglet Win Worst Film?

2026 Golden Raspberry Awards: Will Piglet Win Worst Film?

After watching a 99-cent double feature of Xanadu and Can’t Stop the Music in 1981, UCLA film graduate John B. Wilson decided to create the Golden Raspberry Awards to recognize films for their low quality.

What started as an impromptu ceremony at his Hollywood home gradually developed into one of the most anticipated awards shows of the year.

Worst Film is the main award of the night, highlighting the worst direction, performances, and writing in a single film.

As Piglet has received a substantial number of negative reviews since its release this year, many film fans suspect it will earn a nomination and potentially take home the award.

Piglet is a Potential Winner

Piglet has all the ingredients to earn a Worst Film nomination at the upcoming Razzie Awards and could potentially take home the gong.

After all, many movie critics have slated the horror flick for its screenplay, poor performances, and direction.

For example, Kat Hughes from THN wrote, “A film lacking in pretty much everything, Piglet is a muted attempt at a slasher, leaving the viewer yearning for the almost equally terrible ‘Poohniverse’ movies.”

Piglet is loosely connected to the Twisted Childhood Universe, which won Worst Film for Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey in 2024, as well as another four gongs in various categories.

While it isn’t part of the TCU, it is similar to its films, as it turns a beloved childhood animated character into a murderous villain.

Jafaican is the Current Favorite

There are many reasons why Jafaican is the current frontrunner to win Worst Film at the 2026 Golden Raspberry Awards.

Many people expressed outrage after watching the movie, as its Australian lead, Peter Andre, who is of Greek Cypriot descent, plays a character who turns himself into a Jamaican with fake dreadlocks and a dubbed Jamaican accent.

As a result, the film has been called out for cultural appropriation and insensitivity, with some stating it reinforces offensive stereotypes about Jamaicans and Rastafarians.

The flick received widespread disapproval on social media before its release, causing Peter Andre to make various public appearances to quash the backlash.

Due to Jafaican’s extensive criticism, low budget, and poor performances, the British crime comedy might be a shoo-in for Worst Film at the 2026 category, saving other nominated movies from further embarrassment.

Popeye’s Revenge May Have Earned It

Piglet might have disappointed horror fans everywhere, but it may struggle to compete with Popeye’s Revenge due to its weak script, uncreative direction, and poor character development.

Like Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey and its sequel, the film has turned a much-loved children’s character into an evil killer.

To make matters worse, Popeye’s Revenge received many negative reviews from critics, with some calling it unoriginal, mundane, and chaotic.

What’s more, the movie has been criticized for its poor-quality visual effects, as it uses chocolate syrup as blood and features an obvious plastic prop spine.

Also, there appears to be a minimal connection between the murderous villain and the iconic cartoon character Popeye, as his only resemblance to the animated character is his extra-large forearms. As a result, many Razzie voters may deem it a low-budget gimmick.

If you believe Piglet will win Worst Film at the 2026 Golden Raspberry Awards, you could win $1230 by betting $100 if it happens.
