Who is Mo Salah?
Mo Salah is a professional footballer who was born in Basyoun, Egypt. He currently plays in the English Premier League for Liverpool FC and is commonly deployed as a right-winger or striker. He began his career at Al Mokawloon, yet he rose to prominence at Swiss Super League outfit Basel, helping the club to secure two domestic titles.
He joined Chelsea in 2014, however, he wasn’t utilised by the Blues and was a peripheral figure at Stamford Bridge. He spent time on loan in Serie A before signing permanently for Roma. After netting 15 goals in 31 appearances for the Giallorossi, he found himself returning to the UK to sign for Liverpool.
He set the record for the most Premier League goals scored with 32 and formed a formidable partnership with Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino. He has helped to guide the club to Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup and Community Shield success. He has also secured three Premier League Golden Boots and two PFA Players’ Player of the Year awards.
Since arriving in Merseyside, Salah has broken numerous records and became the club’s all-time leading goalscorer in 2023. Overall he’s scored 226 goals for Liverpool and added 101 assists in his 370 appearances. He is currently eighth in the all-time Premier League goalscorers list.
2024-25 Campaign
Despite the change in management and coaching staff this summer, Salah has seemingly carried on where he left off and has enjoyed a mesmeric start to the 2024-25 Premier League season. Although contract disputes have been reportedly ongoing behind the scenes, the Egyptian has netted 13 times in his 14 appearances and chalked up eight assists. He’s also netted in the Champions League and EFL Cup. He has overtaken Erling Haaland as the divisions top goalscorer so far this campaign.
Between November 9th and December 4th, he found the net in four consecutive PL matches including scoring two doubles (vs Southampton and Newcastle).
How Many Premier League Players Score 30+ Goals?
Mo Salah broke the 30 goal barrier during the 2017-18 campaign, however he has failed to match this total in the subsequent seven seasons. It is a remarkable feat which has only ever been achieved by a small number of players including Erling Haaland who notched an eye-watering 36 times during the 2022-23 season.
Other players to have surpassed the 30 goal mark include Kevin Phillips (99-00), Cristiano Ronaldo (2007-08) and Robin Van Persie (11-12). Harry Kane and Alan Shearer are the only two players to have achieved this milestone in two or more seasons.
Is Mo Salah Likely to do it?
On current form, the Egyptian is highly likely to notch 30+ goals. However, the prospect of AFCON 2025 in January would see Mo Salah miss at least three matches for Liverpool. Nevertheless, he wasn’t included in the squad for November’s qualifiers and it remains to be seen whether he will be heading off on international duty come January.
Despite this, he could easily find himself on 20+ goals by the time the tournament comes around at the beginning of 2025.
If you believe that Mo Salah will score 28+ Premier League goals this season, you could win €300 by betting €100 at William Hill if it happens.Â
